The Hon'ble Chief Minister, Odisha
MEMORANDUM FOR EXTRA ATTEMPT The Hon'ble Chief Minister, Odisha. Sub: Request for Granting Additional Attempts in Civil Services Examination. Respected Sir, I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I write this letter with utmost respect and hope to draw your kind attention towards an issue concerning many aspirants of the Civil Services Examination in our state. First and foremost, I sincerely thank you for the progressive decision to increase the upper age limit for appearing in the Civil Services Examination. This step has brought renewed hope to countless candidates who dedicate several years of their youth preparing to serve the state and the nation. However, I humbly wish to submit that while the age limit has been increased, the restriction on the number of attempts continues to create significant difficulties. Many candidates currently fall into two challenging categories some have remaining age eligibility but have exhausted their permitted attempts, while others still have attempts left but have crossed the age limit under previous criteria. This situation has left a considerable number of deserving and hardworking aspirants without a fair opportunity. Preparing for civil services has become increasingly demanding over the years. The examination process has grown more competitive and multi-layered, often requiring years of sustained effort, financial investment, and emotional resilience. For an ordinary general category candidate, particularly one without strong financial backing or social advantages, securing a public sector job has become extremely challenging. Repeated changes and iterations in the examination process, combined with intense competition, make each attempt crucial. Page 1 of 2
